Biography

Mike qualified as a Chartered Accountant having taken articles with one of the major National firms of Chartered Accountants, based in Leicester. He was involved in the preparation of accounts and tax returns for many small clients as well as being involved with major public companies.


After nine years in the profession, Mike entered industry working for three different companies and specialising in business consultancy, budgetary control and financial planning. His last appointment, which lasted 14 years, was as Financial Director of a medium sized public company dealing with all aspects of financial control and business management.

In 1993 Mike, being tired with commuting, decided to have a complete change of direction and work for himself, setting up an accountancy practice and working from home. Through sheer hard work and determination he has built up a practice from scratch and now has over 200 clients, ranging from small part-time self employed businesses to partnerships, one man limited companies, up to medium sized companies, and also including tax returns and advice for individuals – no job is too small.

On a personal note, Mike was awarded the MBE by the Queen in 2004 “For Services to Motor Heritage” for the quality of his vintage vehicle restorations, a hobby for which he is known throughout the World and emphasizing his attention to detail.


Mike and his wife Pat have four grown up sons and Pat is the Bedfordshire County Organiser for The National Gardens Scheme – Gardens Open for Charity. They live in a 17th century thatched cottage with half an acre of gardens. Mike built his own house previously in Studham, and completely renovated and extended the cottage himself in 1992, thereby gaining much experience and contacts in the building trade. The accountancy practice now covers an enormous variety of different types of business.
